Jack Stack Barbecue got its start in 1957 as a small storefront barbecue stand in the heart of downtown Kansas City. Over 65 years later, Jack Stack is now one of the most beloved barbecue brands in KC – spanning six restaurant locations, a full-service catering business, and a nationwide shipping experience.
Challenge
Help Jack Stack Barbecue optimize its carryout experience with custom technology that engages guests and back-of-house team members.
Solution
AGENCYOF designed and developed a custom software experience that integrates with Jack Stack’s online ordering system, OLO, to deliver real-time alerts for Jack Stack’s back-of-house team and guests picking up carryout orders. The high-level functional flow is as follows:

A guest completes an online order for pickup.

30 minutes ahead of the promised pickup time, the guest receives a text message containing a link that asks them to “check-in” when they arrive to pick up their order.

Once the guest checks-in, their order information, including the carryout stall number, is ported to an interactive screen on Jack Stack’s carryout prep line.

With the carryout team alerted, food can be delivered directly to the guest’s vehicle. Carryout team members can also send order status updates as text messages from within the platform.
